Playing another player
You can play another person several ways using the Play menu
WordZap Play Menu when a friend is available to play.
The colored markers show there is someone waiting to play.
If you logged on without using Facebook the only option that works is Zap Online... Other options will give you an Alert telling you to log on again using Facebook. Use the Zap Online... option if you want to play anonymously with some other random player.
Friends are automatically added to your Zap With Friends list if they are your friends and have played WordZap at some point.
To play someone who is not a friend, yo will need to ask to join the appropriate Facebook Group such The WordZap Room (Menu entry: Zap in Room) or ZapArena 103 (Menu Entry: Tournament) . More rooms may be added as the need arises.
If you choose Tournament... you will automatically start a match with Tournament rules (4x4, warmup +first to win 7 games, maximum vocabulary). If a match is interrupted it will restart where you left it. If you do not wish to keep playing you can always Resign. Completed matches are logged and the results automagically posted to the appropriate web page (not yet implemented).
When in one of the rooms, you can see who else is in the room and if they are waiting to play. Press Invite to "phone" them. This will ring on their end and if they press Answer a video-chat window comes up. You
can turn off the video (bottom right) or Hangup when you are done.
When both of you have pressed Play, you will start playing each other.
If the person is not playing WordZap, the Play button is grayed. If you press the Message button, you will be invited to send them an email. You don't need to know their eMail address and they won't be sent yours (for privacy). This lets you set up a time to arrange a match.
If you select Zap With Friends (e.g) the circles will show which friend(s) want to play etc. Click PLAY to show you want to play or MESSAGE to send them an email/Facebook message to arrange a time.
You will link up the next player waiting if there is anyone waiting. If nobody is there you can wait until someone shows up. Of course you can arrange for the person you want to play to choose Zap Online... at the exact moment you do and with luck you will get connected to each other.
If you choose Zap with Friends ... you will play with the options in effect for the inviting player. If you want different options, negotiate.
If you are playing someone with a different skill level you can arrange a "MisMatch" (see here). MisMatches are not yet implented.
Video Chatting: If this does not come up as shown, check that you have version 10.27 or higher. You need to have https rather than http and you need to have your camera, microphone, and sound turned On and Enabled. You can disable your camera or microphone if you don't want to bee seen or heard.
